We got Lady, just on a whim. A good friend, said you need a pointer to go with your Brittanys.
He was the one who found an ad in our local paper. So we went to look at the pup's.
As soon as I saw this little white pup at 8 weeks old. I knew she was the one for me. I had taken a quail wing with me. Lady was the first pup to point the wing and hold her point as long as she could smell the wing.
So we brought her home. She was out standing even as a small pup, she was pointing pigeons at 9 weeks old.
Everyone told me you won't be able to treat her like you do your Brittanys. I said we'll see.
So, Linda and I decided to raise Lady, the same way, we do all of our other dogs. So we brought her in the house with us. That is when she got her full name. She was Linda's dog. So we called her Linda's Silver Lady. It was not long till I nicked name her Bug. Her first years in the field she seemed to always be in the wrong place when bird's were pointed. But in her third year we killed birds over her point.
Sadly two week after returning from the last hunt in December 2009. We lost Bug to cancer.
She has been gone for months now, and I still miss her greatly.
Not only was Bug my hunting buddy. She was a big part of our family.
So if you have a great dog in your family.
Don't take them for granted, because they can be gone in a blink of an eye.
